Nerd alert – sometimes long weekends make me kind of sad.  Ok, hear me out – I love a miniature holiday as much as the next gal, but sometimes when I am away from the office for too long all of these things I want to say start building up and I get scared that my little head is going to explode with EPIX knowledge.  For example, Friday was Charlie Sheen’s birthday and I didn’t even have the chance to celebrate!  Saturday was Beyonce’s birthday (and thus Sasha Fierce’s half birthday) and I was too distracted by trying to get out of the city heat that I didn’t even remember to wear my black leotard.  Talk about mortifying!  Even my dad, who thinks her name is “Bouncy” remembered to dress up.  Monday was Labor Day and I still haven’t done research on which lucky mother was the first to give birth on a day dedicated to labor… (That’s what Labor Day is for, right?)  The past five days have flown by and I haven’t even gone back to school shopping or sharpened all of my number two pencils!  Does vacation turn everyone’s brain to mush or is it just me?  Is there some sort of blogger’s union that can help me sculpt my thoughts into something coherent?  Sometimes I worry that if I ever took more than four days off in a row, my brain would just melt and I would forget how to type and would be forced to dictate my blogs to our poor intern, “Mad Men” style.
But really, I’ve been such a busy bee vacationing (that’s kind of an oxymoron, but you get my drift) that I haven’t had the chance to tell you all about our EPIX Live: Lewis Black event that was, in my humble opinion, the coolest thing EPIX has done thus far.  Maybe I just enjoyed it because I got a cool story out of it.  And by “cool” I mean kind of disturbing.  You see, the shoot was on a Wednesday and because God has a great sense of humor, I got really ill on Tuesday night.  Like, calling for my momma type of ill.  I came in to work late on Wednesday looking like I got hit by a bus, and had to run out to a store across the street to buy clothing that was some-what presentable to my soon-to-be best friend Lewis Black.  When we got to the studio, I had to sit in front of the green screen with some serious lights pointing right on me testing everything out before Louie arrived (that’s me putting on a happy face above).  My boss, who had been in the control room watching the whole thing, came up to me when I was finally excused from the set and allowed to go back to feeling sorry for myself and wailing in misery and said that I looked like I was going to projectile vomit onto the cameras.  Now wouldn’t that make for some great live television???
If you think I deserve a raise for being such a trooper, leave a comment below.  If you think I’m being a big baby and should stop feeling so proud of myself for simply showing up to work, feel free to not leave a comment below.  Also, if you have any crazy work stories I would love to hear them.  Misery loves company, right?
I’m running out to a screening of Buried but will give you more details about the EPIX Live: Lewis Black shoot later on today.  Heck, if I’m feeling crazy I might even include some details about Lewis!
