Free Time
Sunday was a great day and a terrible day for this little blogger.  Terrible because I really, really dislike the New York Marathon purely because I live East of 1st Avenue and, since they close the street to pedestrians, I am essentially trapped on the wrong side of the race for the entire day.  I suppose calling that “terrible” is an over-statement, but it certainly isn’t an ideal way to spend a Sunday because, as entertaining as it is to watch thousands of people jogging, it can get a little old.  I try to entertain myself by stuffing chocolate croissants into my face from the sidelines while screaming “JEALOUS!?!” at the runners as they jet by, but it gets old after a while.  Luckily Sunday redeemed itself because it was also Daylight Saving Time, my absolute favorite non-holiday.  Gaining an extra hour makes me feel like a time-traveler… A lazy, poorly organized time-traveler who doesn’t make any plans in advance on how to use that bonus hour, but a time-traveler nonetheless.
I’ve already written all about my favorite time-traveling movies (I couldn’t help but honor the best time travelers of all time, Bill and Ted, in the picture above), so I thought I would put a different spin on this one and discuss all of the flicks out there that feature time as one of the lead characters.  Having just come from the Press Junket for The Next Three Days(more on that later), I have been thinking a lot about how the element of time can make or break a movie.  The Next three Daysand Nick of Time are similar in the sense that the lead characters (in these cases, Russell Crowe and Johnny Depp) are working directly against time.  Imagine how different their stories would be if they had an extra hour…
How did you utilize your extra time?  Did you just wake up at 9am thinking it was 10am like I did (ok, who am I kidding - I woke up at 11am and thought it was noon) or did you go out of your way to do something special with that free hour?  Leave a comment below letting me know how you spent your hour – extra points if it’s EPIX related!
