Lauren-Torie, What’s the Story?…
…You look like a morning glory! That’s a little poem my mom and dad would say to me when I would come home from school back in the day. They would then ask what I learned that day and I would say “nothing.” My father would then ask if he could get a refund on tuition. Every day the same… Ahh, memories.
I hadn’t thought about that banter in a long time until I started hearing about the new movie Morning Glory. The film, which stars Rachel McAdams as a newbie TV producer trying to reel in Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford who are two spunky - and at times troublesome - morning news hosts. Oh, and I can’t forget Patrick Wilson who is the cutie Rachel falls for and spurs the classic movie conundrum, love or career… or BOTH?
As a young urban professional myself (fine, I admit, I’m a yuppie) I find the concept of the movie pretty relatable and, might I add, adorable. The idea that if you work hard enough and keep at it long enough eventually your big break will come. Sure, you’ll encounter some crabby co-workers who will need to be eased into the idea that there is a new kid on the block (like Ford’s character) and some divas that don’t want anyone else to interfere with their time in the spotlight (like Keaton), but eventually it all works out. And, if you’re lucky, you’ll get a boyfriend out of it too - and a hunky one at that. If I haven’t sold you on the film yet, keep in mind that Jeff Goldblum and 50 Cent are also in the star-packed cast.
Morning Glory is in theatres now and you can see set photos, red carpet coverage from the premiere and film clips on our movie page right this second. There are also lots of cast interviews, including one that features Diane Keaton rapping with EPIX’s very own Egypt. Check them out and let me know what you think in the comment section below.
