Dark Days Ahead
Yesterday was Winter Solstice, AKA the shortest day of the year.  So to celebrate the third-most-important holiday in December, I’m suggesting we watch a slew of vampire movies.  With the sun setting super early, vampires will be able to emerge from their coffins, fly over to the mall and get that last second Christmas shopping out of the way.  Maybe they’ll even flash a smile and get a discount.
Ready for my fang-y and festive suggestions? Here I go: Vampire in Brooklyn – Wes Craven’s flick about the last vampire on Earth (Eddie Murphy) trying to keep his race going by getting it on with a foxy lady (Angela Bassett); Daybreakers – Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe star in a film about capitalistic vampires of the future; Planet of the Vampires – a film about, what else, body-invading alien vampires; The Vampire Lovers – eighteenth century European lesbian vampires; Grave of the Vampire – a blood-drinking-baby grows up and tracks down his vampire dad; The Vampire – a 1957 movie about a guy who turns into a vampire after ingesting some funky pills (but looks more like he’s morphing into Swamp Thing); Vampire Circus – don’t let the name fool you, there are no ringleaders or clowns in this one; Rockula – sex, drugs, rock n’ roll… and fangs; and finally my personal favorite that needs no introduction – Blood and Donuts.
Those should keep you busy for a while, but I assure you EPIX has plenty more.  Check out our extensive library and let me know which are you favorite.
