Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? Press Junket – I’m “Press” Now!
I thought I had enough excitement last night at the red carpet Premiere of Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? But, I guess there is always room for more! I was lucky enough to continue on the Tyler Perry train this morning and attend the Press Junket. Egypt was with us again and got to interview Tyler Perry and Janet Jackson, then Tasha Smith and Jill Scott – check out the video! To say it was awesome would be the understatement of the century. I can’t remember a word that Tyler or Janet said because I was in my own world imagining myself as a back up dancer on J.J.’s Rhythm Nation World Tour and wondering if there was a casual way to ask her if she needed a new best friend. It is impossible to say that without sounding like a stalker, so I kept my mouth shut and tried to blend into the wall.
Next up were Tasha Smith and Jill Scott who played so well off of each other and gave a hilarious answer when asked if they had ever had a major-freak-out-moment like Tasha’s character, Angela, has in the film. You’ll have to watch the clip to hear what Tasha said, but trust me it will have you rolling on the floor laughing. She and Jill also gave some surprisingly insightful advice when asked what makes a good marriage – whether you’re in a relationship or not, the clips are definitely worth watching.
My favorite part of the entire day was when the cameras stopped rolling and Tasha and Jill were getting up to leave – Jill asked Tasha is she liked her harem “M.C. Hammer” pants, and then she did a little Hammer Time dance. It was a-maz-ing. Side note – Janet was wearing very similar pants last night, so I guess they’re back in! Luckily I have meticulously preserved my Zubaz, so I’m all set.
Another random fact that I never knew before my whole Premiere-Junket-Experience – is it takes a village to make it happen. Publicists, Hair & Make-up people, Camera Man, Lighting Guys, Sounds guys, Production Assistants, Producers, Reporters, Me, of course. Wow – I don’t think I missed anyone. I was particularly fascinated by the Hair & Make-up people. They basically follow the actors around and wait patiently to see if they need anything – you know like if a hair falls out of place and they to have it put back. I’d like that. Actually, I think I need that. I’ve had enough of combing my own hair and putting on my own mascara. Seriously, sign me up.
The film opens on April 2nd, so be sure to watch the original Why Did I Get Married? before then and get excited – instead of taking place in a cold cabin, part two (or rather part “too”) was shot in location in the Bahamas.
