Based on a “True” Story
There are a lot of movies out there that are described as “inspired by real events,” “based on a true story” or “unauthorized biography” – these terms come in handy if there is ever a legal debate over the validity of a story or character, but they are also useful because they instill a sense of legitimacy. These labels seem to somehow make the movies feel more real, if that is even possible. I love biographical films because I always end the movie with the sense that I am besties with this person. For example, I felt totally buddy-buddy with Georgiana Cavendish after watching The Duchess. EPIX has a boat load of “true story” films — Mommie Dearest, Chaplin, At Close Range, Serpico, Beat, The Haunting in Connecticut, Looking for Mr. Goodbarand Heartburn, just to name a few.
So here is my question – if the Hollywood heavy-hitters were going to make a movie about your life, who would be the leading lady/man? The L.T. Chronicles: How One Blogger Changed the World would obviously star Angelina Jolie, and maybe I would cast Chloe Grace Moretz as the younger, sassier me.
