Captain’s Log: Final Frontier
Sadly Comic-Con has come to an end, but luckily I have enough material to last me a lifetime. I hope you all like the taste of Comic-Con because we’re going to be dining on leftovers for a while!
My final day in San Diego was jam-packed with events. Derek and I started our day by interviewing Kevin Greutert and Tobin Bell, the Director and star of Saw 3D(you can watch Saw VIon EPIX right now and catch up before the new film is released). Yup, I was mere inches away from Jigsaw himself and lived to tell the tale. Derek asked them both questions while I did my best impression of a cameraman. But Derek said I did a pretty good job, so pat on the back to me! Then we headed over to the Marvel booth where there was a Captain America and Thor poster signing and don’t worry, I got one of each! I had to shove my way in the line, but finally all of my practice on the commuter train has paid off. I never thought I’d be so thankful to work in Times Square – I mean, I can elbow my way in with the bet of them. Although I have already picked a winner for the Thor poster, (are you following me on Twitter? That’s how I chose the lucky girl!), there will be a contest to win the Captain America poster signed by Joe Johnston, the Director. But more on that later…
After the signing Derek and I ran around the convention center getting pictures of the best costumes - see them here. Everyone there got so into it – it was great to see. After all those years in New Orleans I have seen some pretty funky things, but the Comic-Con attendees really took the cake.
In the afternoon Derek and I had the pleasure of interviewing Daniel Stamm, Director, and Eli Roth, Producer, of The Last Exorcism. It was so cool to meet them in person and get an insider’s perspective on what went into making the film. Eli told us what a huge help Quentin Tarantino was to him when he directed Hostel and how pleased he was to be able to do the same for Daniel today. Who would have thought that a guy who likes to pay it forward could have such terrifying and graphic films? We ended the night with more Exorcism at the screening (truth be told, I was too scared to attend) but we were there for the question and answer session with Daniel and Eli which actually got me excited to see the film and mad at myself for being such a baby. Alas, it is what it is.
Can you believe that this is the abridged version of my adventure? Man, so much more to tell you all… Please stay tuned for more (who knows, the signed Captain America poster could be yours!)
